CAPELIEVA 500MG ( Capecitabine Tablets IP 500mg )

CAPELIEVA 500 mg contains Capecitabine, an oral fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy agent. It is a prodrug of 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) that is selectively activated in tumor tissues by thymidine phosphorylase, leading to inhibition of DNA synthesis and tumor cell death.

Capecitabine is used in the treatment of:

1. Breast Cancer
    – Metastatic or locally advanced disease

2. Colorectal Cancer
    – Adjuvant treatment after surgery
    – Metastatic colorectal cancer

3. Gastric Cancer
    – Advanced or metastatic (in combination regimens)

Common side effects:

•   Hand–foot syndrome (palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia)

•   Diarrhea

•   Nausea, vomiting

•   Fatigue

•   Stomatitis

Hematological side effects:

•   Anemia

•   Neutropenia

•   Thrombocytopenia

Serious side effects:

•   Severe diarrhea and dehydration

•   Cardiotoxicity (rare)

•   Severe skin reactions

Dose adjustment may be required in renal impairment.

Dosage is based on body surface area (BSA) and treatment regimen.

Common adult dose:

•   1250 mg/m² twice daily

•   Taken for 14 days, followed by 7 days rest

•   Repeated every 21-day cycle

500 mg tablets are used to achieve the calculated dose.
