Description

Docelieva 80 mg contains Docetaxel, a chemotherapy (anticancer) drug from the taxane group. It works by stabilizing microtubules and preventing their depolymerization, which inhibits cancer cell division and leads to cell death.


Uses

Docetaxel Injection is indicated for treatment of:

  1. Breast cancer

  2. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)

  3. Prostate cancer (metastatic, hormone-refractory)

  4. Gastric (stomach) cancer

  5. Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma


Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Alopecia (hair loss)

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Myelosuppression (especially neutropenia)

  • Fatigue and weakness

  • Peripheral neuropathy

  • Fluid retention (edema)

  • Mouth ulcers (stomatitis)

Serious side effects:

  • Severe neutropenia with infection

  • Hypersensitivity reactions

  • Severe fluid retention (pleural effusion, ascites)

  • Liver function abnormalities

Premedication with corticosteroids (e.g., dexamethasone) is mandatory to reduce hypersensitivity reactions and fluid retention.


Dosage Information

Dose is individualized based on body surface area (BSA), cancer type, and treatment protocol.

Common regimens:

  • 75 mg/m² IV infusion every 3 weeks

  • 100 mg/m² IV infusion every 3 weeks (selected patients)

    Administered by slow intravenous infusion under strict oncologist supervision.
