L-GANASELIEVA 10,000 IU contains L-Asparaginase, an antineoplastic enzyme. It works by depleting asparagine, an amino acid essential for leukemic lymphoblasts. Normal cells can synthesize asparagine, but leukemic cells cannot—leading to selective tumor cell death.
L-Asparaginase is mainly used in:
1. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)
– Pediatric and adult protocols
2. Lymphoblastic Lymphoma
It is used as part of combination chemotherapy regimens.
Common side effects:
• Nausea, vomiting
• Fatigue
• Fever
Serious side effects:
• Hypersensitivity reactions / anaphylaxis
• Pancreatitis
• Hepatotoxicity
• Coagulation abnormalities (bleeding or thrombosis)
• Hyperglycemia
Close monitoring of liver enzymes, blood glucose, amylase/lipase, and coagulation profile is essential.
Dosage depends on protocol and patient factors.
Common dosing:
• 6,000–10,000 IU/m²
• Given IM or IV, usually 2–3 times per week
